Swine Flu In Mississippi

It’s officially here….the swine flu.
Mississippi is reporting its first cases of the virus in the state.
Three cases have been confirmed in Harrison County—-on the Gulf Coast.
We’re told man, a woman, and an infant tested positive for the virus.
The health department says the three are not related.
All three have fully recovered.
None had traveled to Mexico recently.
“We’re fortunate we have experience now over a thousand cases around the world. We now know more about the virus. We know it’s not the killer flu that was being reported out of Mexico. We know it produces typically mild illness,“ said Dr. Ed Thompson, who is the state health officer.
Brandon Discount Drugs is also preparing for the virus here.
Pharmacist Ryan Harper says they’ve been stocking up on Tamiflu and Relenza.
“Several customers have been traveling to Mexico, Central and South America on missionary trips and are concerned about possibly coming into contact or being exposed to the swine flu.“
The shelves are also full of hand sanitizer.
“We probably doubled our inventory recently, just to take care of our customers who come in looking for it,“ said Harper.“There’s been a great scare due to the swine flu.“
