Some homeowners are concerned a 24-hour Burger King will attract crime to the area. The Montrachet Subdivision is right behind the site of the restaurant are particularly upset. Homeowners there pleaded with the Board of Aldermen to stop construction. “Honestly, if I had known this development was coming into the community. I would not have moved here,“ said Marilyn Beach. Beach just moved into the subdivision. The board voted five to two in favor of the new Burger King. “As far as the argument that it is not proper use and it would decline property value, I feel like that would go against Mr. Cress’ self interest. He owns and operates that center,“ said Ward five Alderman Scott Jones. Developers said construction on the Burger King will begin in about 30 days.
