Rewards are now being offered for information leading to an arrest in the murders of a Carey woman and her three-year-old daughter.
Authorities hope the cash incentive will generate new leads in the case.
In September, 31-year-old Karitha Carroll and her three-year-old daughter Jamaya were found murdered in their home.
Karitha was stabbed several times in the chest. Her little girl’s throat was slashed.
Crimestoppers and “Double Quick”, where she worked, have teamed-up to offer as much as two thousand dollars for information leading to an arrest.
Deputies tells us Robert Lee King is still a person of interest in the murders and they want to talk to him.
Some witnesses think they saw king in Sharkey County around the time the two were killed.
King is wanted for a 2005 murder in Memphis.
Sharkey County deputies are working with the MBI—-and the FBI on the case.
They’re waiting for the state crime lab to process DNA evidence, which they hope will lead to a suspect.
“It upsets you, i’m still upset,“ said Sheriff Lindsey Adams. He was a close friend with Karitha Carroll. “She was a nice young lady. She wasn’t involved in drugs, alcohol, or anything like that.“
Adams says the biggest problem is that no one in town is talking.
“With a type of crime like this in a small neighborhood like Carey and Rolling Fork, people do have a tendency of tensing up on it,“ said Adams.
Making Adams more determined to make an arrest.
“You get frustrated, but all that’s gonna do is make it that much harder on you,“ said Adams. “Best thing to do is do everything you can to bring some closure to this.“
