The man who admitted to having an affair with Carla Hughes takes the stand. The prosecution called Keyon Pittman. Pittman was engaged to Avis Banks.
Opening statements in the Carla Hughes’ capital murder trial began Monday.. 12 men and women will serve as jurors. They will be sequestered. The trial has been going on for 7 days. Carla Hughes is charged with 2 counts of capital murder. The death penalty is an option in this case. She’s suspected of killing Avis Banks, 27. Its shameful and sad that taxpayer’s are paying for the world to see a man go free for murdering his fiancee’and unborn child thanks to lazy, under developed, and immature police department. I truly pray that someday this man will pay for what he’s done. I pray for all families involved in this sad love song. Though Carla niave actions driven by selfish ambition allowed her to be manipulated into obviously being railroaded has led her to her fate. With all being said we that atteneded SJH are supportive of Carla and pray for you all. We love you FOR SURE.
How in the world could the justice system not call for Keyon to go to trial? It seems like they would have found evidence that would link both to the murder. They shared the same bloody shoes. He admitted to wearing and returning. Carla borrowed the gun and knife, which are the same types of weapons used to kill Avis. The DA should of deeply investigated and questioned both suspects. Ray Charles can see through this!
I agree with mostly all of the comments posted here, I just hope there is at least 1 person on the jury who also thinks like us. I dont think she was involved in the killing,butshe may have known something befor hand. this guy is a joke,what do these woman see in him,are they just desperate??
I think Mr. Pittman killed Ms. Banks because he said he is responsible because he had to many lies so who is there to say one of the other women along with Mr. Pittman did’t kill Ms.Banks and if she hadn’t died that death she may have gotten aids dealing with him.He don’t have real tears because he has already gotten married so was he deating this women to,he should get the death peanlty aswell.
One thing about the Truth is that no matter what day it is told it will always be the same and clearly Kenyon is not telling the Truth because he cant even remember his day to day activities. I pray that justice be served because that was a horrific case. No one deserves to be treated in such a way. That was never Love! When you Love someone you do not treat them bad. Mr. Pittman had alterior motives that needs to be explained. He is a fake up on the stands. Carla Hughes needs to be grounded with the Lord for 1.
I agree completely - both should be on trial.
Having said that, I do have to say the following:
1. Carla borrowing the gun (not to even mention a knife) from her cousin right before the murder, and then returning it (note: only the gun only was returned) right after the murder (empty of bullets) is a HUGE problem (frankly its borderline insurmountable imho) for the defense.
2. Carla is going to have to testify to explain item 1 above - its just too much of a coincidence. I think I heard yesterday that she had told the cousin that she had taken the gun target shooting - well, for her sake, she better have someone that saw her there (or some sort of a receipt to prove she was there target shooting).
3. I just can’t say it strongly enough - Carla is going to have to testify. This is for many reasopns, not the least of which is the above - but also - Kenyan testified - and if she doesn’t, the jury is going to find it very strange.

Wow what is going on in the justice system? Why isn’t this clown on trial? I can not believe that he is not in the seat where Ms. Hughes is. This man is the worst actor that I’ve ever seen. He can’t even cry real tears. You know I don’t understand some people why kill the person? If you don’t want her, just leave. I have another question. Why are these women attracted to this clown? You can see that’s he’s arrogant, has an attitude problem, and he even isn’t attractive. JPD need to get it together, for the love of God don’t let him go scott free. Why isn’t he a person of interest or anything. Look at him all married up and living in another state. How are you going to text someone after they murdered your wife and say they are the best thing that’s God sent you. I didn’t know he had gunshot residue on his hands. Does he have a friend at JPD or something because these are things that should make suspicions arise. Why would you put on your mistress’s shoes and hug & kiss a person that you love that has been brutally murdered? If he doesn’t pay for this crime on this Earth, he will in the after life and I hope he has the common sense to be aware of his actions. His actions has destroyed plenty of people, including his unborn son. What a loser.
Keyon DEFINITELY had something to do with it too!!!... Why is everyone forgetting that A YEAR AND A MONTH after his pregnant fiance’s murder, he was already MARRIED and hauled @ss to TEXAS?? He “found” the body, called everybody and their momma FIRST, ran around the house, THEN called police from the neighbor’s phone when he had been calling everyone else in the world on his OWN CELL PHONE?? When the police arrived, he had GUN POWDER RESIDUE on his hands!! So next, he goes to his LOVER’s apartment instead of his OWN FAMILY’s house or his FIANCE’S FAMILY’s house…Then he still had a key to Carla’s apartment AFTER the incident, and he admitted that he BORROWED her TredSafe shoes BEFORE the incident!! The police couldn’t get him to give them ANY details, and he NEVER cried before, but all of a sudden on the stand, he wants to have a BREAKDOWN?? And I won’t even get started on all the other women he had on the side… therefore, BOTH KEYON AND CARLA should be on trial… See, the problem is Madison County trying to uphold their “perfect image”...They found the stuff in Carla’s apartment so they automatically put it on her so they can get this mess off their hands…They don’t really care about justice, and they’re not looking at the obvious clues right in their faces - they just wanna hurry and throw somebody away so they can continue to live in their “yellow brick road” community… PLEASE WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!!!!
I feel like Carla and Keyon both should be on trial. Keyon should have invested in an acting class before this trial, because the tears couldn’t have been more FAKE! I never saw an actual tear. I just kept seeing him wipe his dry eyes to make them red. Keyon couldn’t get his story straight. How can you NOT remember the route you took home to and from work everyday? It seemed like he was fumbling around and asking for questions to be repeated because he could not get his lie straight. In most cases when a woman cheat we refer to her as a “whor*” or “slu*” or any word of disgrace. We immediately attached a scarlet letter to this woman simply because she cheated with a taken man. However, when it comes to a man what do we say? “A man is gonna be a man.” I don’t think it’s fair for us to form the conclusion that Carla killed Avis just because she was cheating with Keyon. Let’s be real people…Keyon had just as much or MORE access to kill Avis as did Carla. Keyon had access to Carla’s home, he borrowed and wore the shoes that had blood spatter on them, and he also had gunpowder residue on him. None of those things scream innocent to me. Keyon is guilty of cheating with Carla this we ALL know, but how truthful do you think Keyon would have been about cheating with Carla had he not gotten caught with his hand in the cookie jar? There is more to Keyon than he is willing to tell…that is until he gets his hand caught in the jar AGAIN…
