One Group Aims To Promote Engery Projects In Mississippi

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - A new nonprofit coalition headed by former
Tennessee Valley Authority Chairman Glenn McCullough Jr. says it
will work to identify promising green energy projects in
Mississippi and help push them through bureaucratic red tape.
The group of energy, business, community and academic leaders
announced the formation of Advance Mississippi this week.
McCullough, a former Tupelo mayor who headed TVA for six years,
will serve as chairman of the Jackson-based coalition.
McCullough says Mississippi could lose the opportunity to become
a national leader in green energy if it allows power projects to
get mired in bureaucracy and needless debate. The key, he says, is
to educate state leaders and the public on “sound, sensible energy
policy.“
