JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The Mississippi Department of Health says the state’s total number of swine flu cases is 152, and there are still no deaths.
Winston County had the most new cases with nine confirmed. There were six new cases in Lamar, four each in Forrest and Jackson, two each in Webster, Tishomingo, Lee, Greene, George and Harrison counties. And, Attala, Chickasaw, Hinds, Lafayette, Lincoln, Marion, Oktibbeha, Panola, Perry, Rankin, Smith and Warren counties each had one new case. Officials say swine flu responds well to anti-viral medications, but children, the elderly, pregnant women and the chronically ill may be at higher risk for complications.
