New State Superintendent of Education
A Mississippi native, who once served as State Superintendent of Education, gets ready to hold the position once again.
The State Board of Education announced Dr. Tom Burnham will get the job.
The 62-year-old served in the same position in the 1990’s.
Burnham is currently Dean of the School of Education at the University of Mississippi.
He will begin by the end of this year and succeeds Dr. Hank Bounds, who left the position over the summer to become Mississippi’s Higher Education Commissioner.
Dr. John Jordan has been acting State Superintendent.
