Janice Mowdy and Stephanie Bell both pleaded guilty to the starvation death of Austin Watkins, 4. Mowdy, the boy’s grandmother, and Bell, his aunt, both entered their guilty pleas today in Scott County court. With their plea both women will go to prison for life without the possibility of parole. They also avoid a possible death sentence by not going to trial. Mowdy had custody of Watkins after the state deemed his mother unfit to care for him.

These 2 women should suffer the same justice they inflicted on an innocent child. However, the State of Mississippi and the organization representing the state on this childs behalf is EQUALLY responsible. This child was taken from his mother, put in the hands of evil women and FORGOTTEN! What law enabled this organization to HIDE behind a Privacy Act? Someone does not want this childs records opened. Any responsible person would WANT the record opened so all may know that everything was done to protect this child. IT SHOULD BE OPENED and the responsible parties indicted. I hope the “powers that be” never get another peaceful nights sleep until this little boy gets full justice. I would be ashamed to know that I worked for such an incompetent organization. What the State of Mississippi and its representatives did to this child is CRIMINAL. ALL authorities in this case should be held responsible. If that were my child I would sue the state and that Child Protective organization representing the state. This should not be swept beneath the carpet to be done to another innocent child. Ms. Woodruff said she felt badly - How did that child feel for all that time? Did ANYONE see him, check on him, make sure that he was being cared for? I think not. This is truly a sad sad situation and makes me wonder if the State has CAPABLE people working in this area. ALL employees responsible should be fired. And don’t tell me that there are too many cases and not enough workers. One child lost is one too many.
They said they were to busy to take that baby to a doctor.
I happen to know that emerency rooms are 24/7 .They could not be working 24/7.I hope they get a sore throat and can’t eat. Yea I know my tax dollars would pay their doctor bill. Patsy
The should be sentenced to life in prison without any food!
