MS Lawmakers Headed For Another Special Session

State lawmakers run out of time to get every detail hammered out for the new fiscal budget.
The new year began July 1st, with some state agencies operating without their official spending plan.
Lawmakers are now forced to come back to the capitol to begin another special session.
The Public Service Commission’s budget still has to be approved.
The PSC regulates utility companies and works on behalf of customers.
We’re told lawmakers couldn’t reach an agreement on adding new positions to the agency.
Commissioner Lynn Posey says the agency typically has a $6-million dollar budget.
The PSC hopes it won’t lose any of that funding when lawmakers go back to the bargaining table.
“We’re committed to taking care of the rate payer at whatever it takes us to do that,“ said Commissioner Posey. “We might be limited in some aspects, and we want our funding restored, but I think we can survive and do the job until the legislator does what it needs to do.“
Many Mississippians are frustrated that lawmakers didn’t get all the budgets done in time.
“It’s horrible, it’s horrible,“ said Pepper Miller. “To me they’re wasting taxpayer dollars, and they know they’re gonna get paid for the special session., so they come back, and what do they do? Sit over there on their cell phones, play on their computers, or go play golf.“
“I understand they have regular jobs just like we do, but why should they get two salaries?“ said Lea Hurst. “I don’t get two salaries. I meet my deadlines all the time. I think they need to too.“

I just hope and pray that this “calling in of the troops again” did not cut short ANOTHER out of country escapade (like the one to Paris) for our dear Governor. Who is so tight budgeting and no nonsense about careless spending and all. Thank GOD this is the LAST term Mississippi has with this country bumpkin. The damage he alone has done is worse than Katrina for the middle class and senior citizens of this state.

Our Representatives and Governor have wasted Mississippi taxpayers money for years. Thank goodness for term limits for the Governor. I would like to see term limits for all our elected Representatives.
