The attorney general’s office says it has concluded its investigation of three Jackson women who have now been convicted of crimes against a nursing home resident.
Ashley Showers, Brittany Slaughter and Jamise James have each pleaded guilty in a scheme in which the patient’s driver’s license and Social Security card were stolen and used to obtain credit cards, cell phones and other goods.
Attorney General Jim Hood said it was sad that the victim died before “she saw justice served in this matter.“
Hood says Slaughter cooperated in the investigation and was fined $500 and sentenced to probation.
Showers, who pleaded guilty Thursday, and James were given five-year sentences with four years suspended. They must pay fines and restitution.
