I was Kicked off of Farrish street by rogue police, after eating @ The Big Apple Inn. My friend and I were riding bikes downtown, during Harvey Johnsons first office, and wanted to view the new water lines being put in 7-8 years back. Sgt. Amy Barrlow kicked us off the street, and said we could only ride bikes on Capitol & Lamar St. This rule applied to only my friend and me, as others passed by with no problems.
How can the business district thrive if you can’t ride a bike down the street, and get a sandwich?
I am so excited about all the wonderful things that are going on in Jackson. I recently moved back and decided to take advantage of the Jackson housing market before the prices go up. What people in Jackson and the surrounding areas don’t realize is that revitalization seems to be the new trend in metropolitan areas. Young professionals and artist are moving to urban areas at record speeds and housing prices in these areas are bound to increase in the process.
As for the nay sayers, unfortunatly that is going to happen because of the fear that people will leave the suburbs and move to the. However, there is no rason to be afraid. There are those who enjoy the hussle and bussle of the city and those that enjoy the relaxation of the burbs. As Mississippians, I think the last thing we should do is verbally assult our Capital City.
There is no doubt in my mind that Jackson is on the rise and will attract bright minds from all over the country to partake in that growth. For those who want to join- as a new Jacksonian , I welcome you.
I wonder if they still have their own water system, as they did back in’52.
They can call it what ever they want, bottom line its sitting in the middle of the 9th most dangerous city in America. That should make your guest feel secure. After dinner they could go shopping on Farris Street. You know we have spent millions of dollars on this street, so it should be very nice for the hotels after dinner guest to visit. Or maybe take in a movie at one of the State Capitol’s many theater’s, what we don’t have one anywhere in the city for our guest. Maybe they could enjoy a meal at a nice venue downtown, what,, not one of them either. What are our guest going to do, I got it get in you room and pray you still have a car the next day. This will be government housing in 5 years and hotel will leave in 6 years. Well spent money.
