Christopher Spell pleaded guilty to two counts of manslaughter. The judge sentenced 28-year-old to 20 years for each count, but they will be served at the same time. Spell admitted he was speeding and driving recklessly the night he crashed into the couple’s car on I-55 and Siwell Road in Byram. Captain Eddie Mcgowan and his wife Vickie died in the crash. Their two daughters were also in the car. They survived but were critically injured. Reports from the Mississippi Highway Patrol show Spell had been drinking but he was below the legal limit.
