Investigators Have Several People Of Interest For Sharkey County Double Murder
Unsolved Murders
Investigators have several people of interest, but still no suspects. There are still no arrests in the murders of a Karitha Carroll and her 3-year-old daughter Jamaya in Sharkey County.
The coroner says the mother had chest wounds.
Her daughter had her throat slashed.
The sheriff’s department is working with MBI on the case.
So far, they have several people of interest, but no official suspects.
“It makes anybody nervous and scared cause you don’t know who it is,“ said Sharkey County resident Wilma Blackstock. “You don’t know if they’re here or out-of-town. You just don’t know what to think about it, but it’s scary.“
The chief deputy says they’re still looking at Robert Lee King.
He’s already wanted for a murder in memphis.
Some witnesses think they saw him in Sharkey County around the time of the murders.
According to the U.S. Marshals, King has nothing to do with the murders, but deputies say they’re not ruling out anyone until they solve the case.
“It’s a really scary thing,“ said local Mica Joiner. “I mean just the other day, I came home, and one of my kids left the side door open. The first thing that came in my mind is what if this person is here in my house? I called my husband and wouldn’t even go in the house with the kids because of that.“
Sharkey County Deputies believe someone in the community knows something.
They’re hoping they’ll come forward and help solve the case.
