First Day For Jackson’s New Police Chief
First Day On The Job
The new chief of police for the city of Jackson starts work on Wedsnesday. And residents voice concerns about changes they want to see in their neighborhood.
It’s the beginning of a new era for the Jackson Police Department.
Wednesday Rebecca Coleman put in her first day as the city’s new police chief.
Coleman spent the day meeting with her command staff.
She is also getting an overview of the department’s operational structure before she decides how best to deploy officers.
Tuesday night the city council confirmed Coleman for the job.
She’ll earn $97,000 a year.
Residents say they want the new chief to put more patrol officers on the streets and to get tougher on criminals who are repeat offenders.
