Fire Destroy Two Mobile Homes

Investigators with the Yazoo City Fire Department tells us a fire broke out at one mobile home on 14th Street and then spread to another one next door.  The blaze broke out around 4:44 p.m. on Wednesday. No one was hurt. Investigators say at this time they do not know what caused the fire.

That is so sad. I hope that the family will be able to recover from this because finding a house is very difficult during this time. I think we all remember the Make Home Affordable program – the idea was that the federal government would assist lenders in modifying mortgages to make them affordable for homeowners. The program wasn’t much of a success, though not a total failure – of all the loan modifications done, 40% were delinquent again in less than a year, and of over 700,000 modifications offered, only about 30,000 became permanent. Perhaps this was a taxpayer funded cash advance that maybe could have been better used elsewhere.
