Eastside Elementary School Teacher of the Year:

Sholar received a BS in Elementary Education from the University of Southern Mississippi and a Master’s in Elementary Education from Murray State University. She has taught fourth-grade math and science at Eastsice since 1987.
“I make certain to know the abilities of the students in my classroom and be aware of their learning styles in order to help them learn to the best of their ability,” she said. “My role as a teacher is ultimately to provide children with opportunities to cultivate their own knowledge.”
