Earth Day in Jackson

There’s a collection area for recyclables behind the Rainbow Natural Grocery in Fondren that many don’t know about.
“We take it and the recycling companies come and get the cardboard, and plastic, and aluminum. The City of Jackson comes and gets the glass and takes it to where it’s recycled,“ said Patrick Gerome who works at Rainbow Natural Grocery.
Gerome says recycling saves energy, trees and helps the local economy.
“The people that recycle this cardboard and this glass they work around here,“ said Gerome. “The money stays in the community.“
You can take your recyclables to the Rainbow Natural Grocery 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
