PASCAGOULA, Miss. (AP) - A Mississippi heart surgeon who opened a medical marijuana clinic in California will be in court Thursday in his home state on drug and witness tampering charges. David Bruce Allen was charged in Mississippi with cultivation of marijuana and selling hashish while in possession of a firearm following a February drug raid on his farm on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Allen claims authorities are “domestic terrorists” who want to steal his land because it has a large lake on it. The charges aren’t related to his medical marijuana clinic in Sacramento, Calif. Allen was charged with witness tampering last week for allegedly trying to influence witnesses. Allen’s attorney, Matt Baldridge, asked for Thursday’s hearing in hopes of getting the doctor released on bond.
