People across the metro say when deciding whether a convicted murderer lives or dies the jury should focus on the facts and not how the person looks. But Former Hinds County District Attorney Faye Peterson says it’s a human impulse to be influenced by appearances even in a criminal court case. She believes Hughes courtroom demeanor and the fact that the former middle school teacher is quite attractive may have played a role in the outcome of the trial.
