Wesson Police and Copiah County Sheriff’s Deputies are looking for a murder suspect.  The sheriff tells us 54-year-old Denmon Ward was shot at the Wesson Pawn & Gun Shop on Highway 51 in Copiah County this afternoon.  We’re told Ward was part owner of the business and investigators believe he was the only person there at the time of the shooting.  The sheriff says they believe they know who the shooter is, but they’re not releasing his name.  We’re working to get updates on the investigation and reaction to the murder tonight on News Channel 12 at 10..

First,I would like to send our condolences to the family of the victim and send our prayers to them. It is so unfortunate that that world is coming to such violence. I came from a very violent part of a city in Florida and moved to Wesson because of the wonderful people here and the great neighborhood for my children to grow up in. My wife and her family are natives of Wesson. We always try to help others in need, i am sure that if the person had needed help with something all they had to do is ask for help, whether it be money or food. They did not have to take someones life, who had a family and friends. This person has now taken away the love, help and support of another family. I just pray that his person turns themselves in and takes responsibility for what they have done. I do not want to say that I despise people like this and an only pray for them as the Bible and GOD has asked of me.

Its really sad what happened, and prayers are out for the families of those involved. Its scary for the students at the Wesson Campus of the Copiah Lincoln Community College. It is also a strange feeling that something like this could happen right here at home in small town Wesson.
Again, prayers and thoughts are extended to the families.
