Travis Dyar received an Associate’s degree from Hinds Community College and a teacher’s certificate from Alcorn State University. He has taught building trades at the CHS Career Complex since 2001.
“Career and technical education allows the opportunity to educate students in the areas of reasoning, thinking, team releations and coping emotionally with daily stresses that will be present in their future workplace,” he said. “The student must not only learn the basic academics, but must learn how academic subjects relate to their future lives and careers.”
Said Career Complex Principal Margera Harris: “Students find it easy to communicate with Mr. Dyar whether it is instructional concerns in his classroom or lab, or personal student matters. He communicates to his students their ability to achieve by promoting high expectations, by encouraging and directing them to appropriate academic or career or technical area resources.”
