DOES ANYONE KNOW IF TRANSCRIPTS OF THE TRIAL WILL BE MADE AVAILABLE AT SOME POINT?

Paco,

The questions about the target practice and additional ammunition and little green men coming down in a space ship and taking the bullets out of the gun I guess are questions that she could have answered.  Based on the evidence provided during the trial, the jury found her guilty beyond “a reasonable doubt”.  I believe you or perhaps someone else stated yesterday beyond a shadow of a doubt.  That is untrue.  It is beyond a reasonable doubt.  While it may be possible that little green men came down on a space ship and removed the bullets from the gun that is not reasonable.  But anyway how did the bullets get into Avis’ body???

As for the blood on the shoe, I do recall the prosecutor during his cross examination of either Det. Dillard or Det. Neal showing a picture of the shoe that was taken at the time the shoes were retrieved from Ms. Hughes home.  The picture was dated and it showed the blood drops.  Which means the blood was on the shoe prior to them ever being sent to any lab.  Further, I do recall the forensic expert testifying about the blood on the shoe and why the spatter wasn’t tested initially but I can’t remember.  All I really needed to know was that it wasn’t placed on the shoe between the time it came back from the first lab and was sent to the second lab because again a dated photo was produced showing the spatter and the defense didn’t object and seemed to be aware of the photo.

I dont think Carla committed this crime from the evidence presented in court. However, there is one thing I could never understand that is -“Why a person facing the death penalty will refuse to testify on her own behalf. A person as educated as she is acted pretty dumb.  She needed to speak up for herself and plead for her life. She showed absolutely no remorse during the proceeding only when the verdict was rendered.  I dont see how she could sit there in court looking stone faced, perhaps anger, fustrations, hatred for Keyon took over her emotions or was she really afraid they would find her out during the cross examination.  Iam not sure but I hope this is a lesson to the professionals in our schools system and in society as a whole. These kind of relationships happen in schools more than most of us can imagine.  Carla and Avis both lost their lives, while Keyon walks away free to hurt someone else. This very sad, my prayers are with both families…..Every person in this world has been used in one form or the other, whether it a relationship or friendship..but no one deserves to be savagly murdered because of a man, woman, or money etc…PLAYING GAMES IN THESE SO CALLED LOVE TRIANGLES ARE DEADLY..(STEVER MCNAIR—) PERHAPS THEY NEED TO START SOME KIND OF PROGRAM TO HELP PEOPLE IN THESE KIND OF SITUATIONS .....LOVE ADDICT-ANONYMOUS—SOMETHING LORD HELP US!!!!!

Mary,
If She went to target practice, did she only shoot 5 times and then went home? Or did she buy additional ammunition?  Where are the receipts for the additional ammunition? what about the establisment where she went to target practice? Or did she really mean that Keyon went to target practice and he only shot 5 bullets? Maybe she gave the gun to Keyon and then Keyon returned it to her after he did what he did…along with the shoes? That is why there was no foreing scent in the house.
Here is one question that I had….If the First lab found NO trace of Blood on the shoe, How did it end up on the shoe the second time it was tested? Here is what is even more startling. The COP that testified that he saw the blood on the shoe had ZERO training on detecting blood. Yet blood was detected when the shoe got to the SECOND lab. The PROFESSIONAL said that he could not detect the blood with the naked eye. So how did the unqualified cop see the blood if the professional couldn’t see the blood until he placed the shoe under the microscope? You see, this would have been a whole different outcome if this trial was in Texas. Especially if there was ZERO signs of her being inside that house. As I stated before, I think the state was EAGER to place blame on someone..ANYONE….They may have justified their desire to imprison someone for this tragedy, unfortunetly, I feel that they jailed the wrong person. It almost sounds as if Keyon and Carla were in on this together. I feel so sad for all parties involded. my apologies for typo’s…..

Question…does anyone know why it takes so long for these cases to come to trial?  It took this one almost 3 years, but there are many others that see to take just as long.  Why is that?
Does it take this long for attorneys to gather and review evidence or is there just that big of a backlog of court cases?

hi Mary
I can’t answer that. Like I said this has the devils hand all up in it. But for speculations sake. Was any evidence provided as to where she went to do this target practice, did anyone see her, If these things were not asked then why? Also as for the knife, maybe she or he threw it out by accident with the clothes. Was her house ever checked for the knife? Was the whereabouts of it even brought up in court? If not why not?
Hell I don’t know, all I know is that no matter how you look at this case there are so many unanswered questions. I still can’t decide in my mind who did it. But it wasn’t for me to decide. The jury has spoken.

Maybe this was all in the plan, so many unanswered ?? confusion, maybe he/she thought it was enough to spark reasonable doubt in anyones mind, thus creating a not guilty verdict…They both were well educated.

I guess the part that gets me is how can someone so smart do something so dumb, i’m referring to her returning the gun. I mean was she that sure she could do this and return the gun and no one would ever tell. She basically put her freedom and life in her cousins hands. I just don’t see anyone doing something that dumb especially someone with Masters Degrees

PS: your 2 questions do make it appear as if she did it but there is still that reasonable doubt. However it explains why she didn’t get on that stand. These same questions would have killed her testimony, so maybe her lawyer felt she didn’t have the best answers to all these ??? so he refused to allow her on the stand. hummm

Maryyy,

You make some good points.  Just two questions…1).  why did she say she went to the firing range for target practice?  2).  where is the knife?

I have been reading news stories and comments on this case for the last 2 days and it’s consumed me. This is the most confusing case i’ve ever read about. I truly have no opinion on “Who Done It” if you look at all the evidence it points in so many different directions it’s a big bag of confusion.
..Ok, for those that said she did it..
Why keep those bloody shoes if you did it?
Why return the gun, throwing it away would have made it seem more like the guy took it and couldn’t get back into her house to return it, so why return it if you knew you killed someone with it.
Also the bullets, be honest people if you killed someone with a gun would you return it knowing the bullets are in the person you killed and can be traced??
If she did it why did he have GSR on his hands?
If she done it where are the other bloody clothes? If you gonna kill someone why get rid of some of the evidence and not all?
For those who say he did it..
...OK I truly can’t say the same for him. I mean I don’t have those ?? All I can say is how could he do all that in that short amount of time.and why did he not use his phone to call 911 at Avis side, also why would he call these other women after finding Avis dead? I know he knew the police would trace his phone records. I just can’t see someone finding the person they love dying runing across the street to call the police then calling other women, unless you want the police to know about those other women, or you are trying to take the spotlight off yourself.
..Ok what about someone else doing it, well how can the blood on the shoes and the gun be explained being in her possession? Maybe it was Keonna and the cousin,, aha..j/k but if you gonna speculate then you can’t leave that theory out of the mix.
Carla OR Keonn one of them or both of them know the truth. I just wish I knew because i’m seriously baffled by this one. I bet the police felt the same way. Most police have instint and I would think after investigating both of these people their instinct led them to believe she was responsible.

This is a big mess with Satan’s hand all up in it. I pray for all involved especially the family of Ms. Avis. I also pray that one day the truth to what really happens is dicovered.

Also what the hell did she see in this guy. I mean come on ladies, has it gotten that bad. The guys hairline is midway his head. Well i’m just saying. Forgive me I couldn’t help it.

Ok, I take that back about her lawyer…that was THE BEST Closing Statement I have ever heard in my life…and I’ve seen a lot of ‘em.  God Be With YOU Carla.

I was sad to see Carla was found guilty. Its hard to beleive she committed this crime. Although i do feel she know more about what actually happened that day. I just hope that she is not protecting Keyon. Now is the time for her to talk. All I can say is why the hell did she get Johnny Walls to represent her. I could have represented her better and i am not a lawyer. Carla baby just pray and keep your faith. God set high and look low and he will see that justice be served whoever took part in this crime it will be revealed. They may get by but will not get away.
