The owner of a Jackson jewelry store hit by thieves is planning to offer a reward to help police catch the crooks.
In happened around 2 o’clock Monday morning at Carter Jewelers on High Street.
We’re told the men got away with thousands dollars in jewels.
After breaking through a large front glass window, surveillance video shows one of the thieves smashing the cases and the other stuffing a bag with
jewels.
Longtime owner Jerry Lake says the burglars took more than just diamond earrings and necklaces.
“I feel like I’ve been extremely violated,” he said.
The jewelry store has been part of Lake’s family since the middle of the 19th century, established before the civil war in 1849.
The store has been broken into four times since Lake bought the business 12 years ago. This time he says it’s personal.
“Whatever I can do to go after them I’m gonna go after them with passion, cause I’m angry about it.”
