NATCHEZ, Miss. (AP) - Chuck Mayfield and Ray Brown will be on the runoff ballot on Nov. 24 for Adams County sheriff. Brown, a county constable, was the top vote-getter in Tuesday’s election. The Natchez Democrat reports that Mayfield, the county youth court administrator, was determined to be the runner-up Thursday after officials tallied absentee and affidavit ballots. The winner will complete the term of Sheriff Ronny Brown, who died in March. Brown’s wife, Angie Brown, has served as interim sheriff since her husband’s death.
