“From the director of “Eraserhead”, “Blue Velvet”, “Twin Peaks”, and “Mulholland Dr.“, comes the most unusual of David Lynch’s films; a family-oriented, G-rated, Disney movie.  Based on a true story, the film tells the story of Alvin Straight, a fiercely-proud senior citizen who sets out on a riding lawnmower to visit his ailing, estranged brother.  Filmed along the same route traveled by the real Alvin Straight, this movie will tug your heartstrings and put a smile on your face throughout.  Richard Farnsworth earned a well-deserved Academy Award nomination for this, his last film role.  The movie itself was nominated for and won many independent film awards.“ - Crossroads Film Society
