Actor Pleads Not Guilty to Speeding

»  Comments | Post a Comment

CHELSEA, Vt. (AP) - Matt Dillon has pleaded not guilty to a Dec. 30 speeding charge in which police say they spotted the actor doing 106 miles per hour on an interstate highway in Vermont. Lawyer Mark Kaplan, who entered the plea for Dillon, said he hoped the case could be resolved without a trial. The 44-year-old actor didn't appear in court Wednesday. Court documents say Dillon was cooperative and apologetic after being stopped by police in Newbury. He was charged with careless and negligent operation for driving more than 30 miles per hour above the 65-mph speed limit posted on Interstate 91. If convicted, he could get up to a year in jail and be fined $1,000. Dillon's screen credits include "Crash" and "There's Something About Mary."
